Greyson Walker

Picture
When my water broke at 20 weeks and 6 days pregnant, we knew our little boy was special. We were in a fight for his life, and our first goal was to keep him safe and sound until 24 weeks, where he was considered "viable". When he made it to 24 weeks, we made the next goal of 28 weeks. With  next to no amniotic fluid surrounding him, Greyson was born at 29 weeks via an emergency c-section when he showed signs that he had an infection. He weighed 2 lbs. 15 ounces at birth, and gave a small wail that made mommy cry out with joy.

Greyson was born completely septic (infected) and with a bad pneumonia. He spent 216 days (7 months) in the NICU between Women and Babies Hospital, Hershey Medical Center, and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. His only diagnoses are bronchopulmonary dysplasia and tracheamalacia, which will both resolve with growth and lots of time.  Since leaving the NICU in November, he has been hospitalized 5 times due to labored breathing and vomiting.
